This restaurant is a hidden gem in the neighbourhood. My family and I came here for the first time with not knowing what to expect, and were surprised with good food and friendly staff.
Because the restaurant is so small and only one (visible cook) making the sushi, the orders sometimes take a bit of time, but the environment is quiet enough to have a nice conversation while you wait.
They also have 2 semi-private rooms for larger groups and a couple of booths, and seating in front of the sushi chef!
Their menu has a good split between Japanese and Korean selections which I thought was nice too. -

I got a very sweet mushroom appetizer. Miso soup was good. My friend's bento box looked good. We asked to sit in the floor tables and even though the restaurant was totally empty they didn't allow us.

Convenient location and fresh fish makes Oshio an a-okay spot to sate the sushi craving.
Interior is dated, but they have cozy booths lining the side of the restaurant and traditional mat seating towards the back. We almost backed out from this as a lunch spot since it seemed completely empty - turns out, other diners were just sheltered from view.
They have a bunch of specials between 11am - 3pm, maxing out around the $15 price point. Relatively good value and the congee appetizer is a nice touch.
Always happy to support the mom + pop shops, and the older Korean couple that looked to be the owners were cuties, if a bit curt. -

Very few choices. Hardly any drinks. Don't expect anything else but fish and rice. Fish not very fresh. Rice mildly dry. Service uuuuuulllllllltrraaaaaaa slow. Staff was totally not proactive. Unauthentic. Menu is filled with Korean foods apart from the sushi and rolls. Place and tables moderately clean. The appetizers sat through the whole evening without being collected. The congee appetizer was loaded with MSG. Won't come back.

Came here with a friend a few weeks ago since I've passed by it on the way go Wimpy's Diner. Out of all days I decided to come here when we had a winter storm.
However the cozy, quiet ambiance with hints of Japanese decor makes you feel at home. Unlike Wimpy's Diner, this restaurant does NOT have a mall entrance, but rather you have to walk outside to enter.
The service is pretty good and they've got an extensive selection whether here for lunch or dinner.
For food I decided to try their Oshio Special Roll, which to my surprise came wrapped in a pink soyabean sheet; inside filled with shrimp tempura, BBQ eel, avocado, cucumber. Overall the presentation was great, however found it had too much rice. Each ingredient in this roll complimented one another. Overall of this dish was a 3.5/5.
Overall an okay experience.
